Mike Viozzi
At-Large
IncumbentCandidate Statement
Hello all, my name is Mike Viozzi, and I’m running for re-election as an At-Large SC member of DSA Cincy’s Steering Committee for 2026. I joined in DSA in July of 2024, hitting the ground running with the No on 2 campaign in Kentucky that fought against a private school voucher system. I’ve been a constant presence in the chapter since then, working with the electoral committee, and being elected as an At-Large member in January 2025. Since then, I’ve been honored to support the chapter as a part of the Steering Committee and co-chair of the Ecosocialism working group.
Since before I was elected to DSA Cincy’s SC, I’ve been hard at work onboarding members to the chapter, both in 1-on-1s and DSA 101 settings. I pride myself on being a supportive and friendly introduction to chapter life. As the second Trump administration continues to drive a wedge into the middle of American society, these efforts must be expanded and delegated to more members of the chapter in order to develop the middle layer of activists this chapter is missing.
In my last candidate statement, I had hoped to expand beyond onboarding organic recruits - those coming in due to national events - and bring in new members from intentional recruitment campaigns. While unofficial planning for a concerted recruitment campaign was in the works early in the year, the first months of Trump’s second administration pushed that effort to the backburner as the chapter rushed to respond. I plan to devote time to the new Administrative Committee (AdComm) in order to finish what was started a year ago. A continuous and focused city-wide recruitment drive and flyering campaign, especially when paired with ambitious and strategic campaigns, can help us capture the electric moment that democratic socialism is having nationwide, and put it to use building power in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. I will work to make that a reality through my role on the Steering Committee.
This year, I also achieved my goal of emphasizing the climate in the chapter’s work with the chartering of the Ecosocialism Working Group in August. As Interim Chair, I guided the WG’s initial efforts at campaign research to ensure our climate work has a long-term, strategic, intersectional vision and applied that to my research work in the area of mass transit. I have also attempted to coordinate with other Working Groups in setting up activities and events that are of interest to chapter members. These are efforts that I want to refine and expand going into the new year, which you can review here (then link)
Beyond the exceptional circumstances that have defined the past year, I have executed my duties as a member of the Steering Committee with vigor and integrity, whether it’s adjudicating grievances, responding to crises, or simply voicing my opinion on administrative matters. It’s my hope that with the rest of the Groundwork Slate we can continue to make organizing with DSA Cincy a smooth, enjoyable experience for all members. I hope you’ll vote for my re-election as At-Large of the Steering Committee for 2026, and for my comrades on the Groundwork Slate.

Always in solidarity,
Mike Viozzi
